Carr difficult to follow; it seemed to jump from place to place, time period to time period. There are also slang terms used that are not explained, so there were times that I had no idea what she was talking about. Overall, this book is in desperate need of a good editor.

A family treeWe are honoured to share in a key moment of awakening in the life of Alice/the Author.This is novel about a normal woman, in a normal world, with normal concerns. This should be on a shelf with Toni Morrison but the beautiful crafting of the story shows us reality for all cultures when we realize just how messed up anyones/our family relationships can be. Great Read from beginning to the end. The Author really makes you see and feel from the point of view of Angel Harper! A very good tale of perseverance! Recommended reading!
