I was so thoroughly immersed in this book and its characters that I didn't want it to end! Great read.This dual time period story takes the reader to France in the time of Joan of Arc and to West Point in the 1990s. The story of Joan of Arc is told in first person. Joan faithfully and determinedly follows the guidance given her by the voices of angels and saints to lead France to victory and set the dauphin on the throne. However, certain men in powerful positions distrust and dislike the ability of a woman to lead men in battle. I won this book through first-reads giveaways, in return for an honest review. This tale was quite different in regards to Joan of Arc. The book was quite enjoyable and refreshing to read, and I am quite glad I won this book. I noticed how the chapters did alternate between two distinct time points such as the 15th century France, and the United Stated in the 1990s. The story of Jane (the parallel story) was quite compelling because the character dealt with rape and abuse against women.I dont
A different take on the Joan of Arc story. While this stands out in my book collection as one of the few stories I would probably not pick up, it was refreshing to read something different. The first half of the book was a task to get through, seeing that conflict didn't peak my interest until halfway through.
