I would read anything this man writes. I have had some minor disappointments, but 90% of the time, I am scratching my head wondering how someone can come up with such incredible ideas consistently. Long live Jostein Gaarder and may he continue writing for many more decades.The Baltic Sea is well known for its amber, solidified resin from forests around 44 million years old, and frequently trapped in these deposits are various flora and fauna of the period. The writing was good, Peter was not that interesting, but I appreciated how the novel really picked up in the last third and became really engrossing.
This book about imaginativeness puts serious questions about our relation to reality. Petter has a flourishing worldwide business selling his ideas to sorrowful hosts of writers who are dying to write, but have nothing to write about. He, on the contrary, has plethora of ideas, but does not long to write anything. His extraordinary intelligence and fertile imagination are source of what is so interesting, both in his stories and in his life. But just like you start to be captivated and envy him
Wow, what an interesting book. And what a great writing style. I absolutely adored the way this book was written. It has quite some synopsissen and I loved reading those, it was a little short story in the book. It was quite interesting how the book had a plot and if I may say even multiple but also not. The start made sure you were reading towards a certain moment and in the book different subjects came together. But it was also just someone's extraordinarry lifestory. I think this book was
The last book I read by Jostein Gaarder was Maya, which had left me tad bit disappointed. Also, the negative / average reviews here, added to my apprehensions about this book.But how bad could this be, when the author gave me the book that changed my entire prospective long time ago? As I read the book I was positively relieved. The book not only had an interesting layered story, but also, I love the author's narrative style. Or is it my bias for the books about writing and self-exploration?
I adore anything Gaarder. This definitely didn't disappoint.While it may not be as centered on philosophy as Gaarder's other books are, the book still presents to us a couple of unique and quirky characters (which is almost Gaarder's characteristic trademark). Here we see Petter, a genius in making up story-lines. He is so incredibly gifted with his stories that he is able to manipulate his peers from near and far for his own purposes!
