I bought this book on Thursday when I attended the official launch and I couldn't put down. Unbelievably scary and oddly sad. It reminded me of Thomas Harris Red Dragon. The author took me on a wonderful ride. It had the expected tropes I want from a dark thriller, but Ellis takes it in a different direction. My favourite book of the year, local or international.I purchased this book before the official launch because I was so eager to get into it after having read "By all means" (written by the same author). I've just started reading it and it already has me enthralled, definitely a must read if you're a fan of suspense, crime and mystery.
A psychological thriller and much more. Gripping, fast paced, graphic, with strategically, well time and gradual character development. Excellently woven. Well researched. The book has both a local and international appeal. Highly recommend.

An amazing read. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! I would definitely recommend this book
My curiosity was aroused to read 'In the Midst of Wolves' when I read 'Star Crossed' by the same author on the Penguin website. I was pleasantly surprised at the debt of characterisation of the personalities in the book, and mostly the various dimensions used to view the same scene; both from within the subject and externally. This is a book that will remain etched in my mind for a long time. I am looking forward to the sequel Mr. Kurt Ellis!
"Lorraine heard the scratching outside her door just after 1 a.m. The sound of sharp fingernails digging into the wood was soft, but in the early morning stillness of her flat in Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg, it sounded like the first rumblings of thunder."Not long after this, Lorraine's dismembered body is found in her flat. Could this be, as some in the community suspect, a muti killing, carried out by a 'witch'? Or, in a country with awful femicide statistics, is Lorraine's ex-boyfriend
