This book is a great book! I absolutely enjoyed this book as it looked at a stereotypical asian relationship. The contrast of the past and present Punjab is very interesting, and keeps it very exciting. It's about two lovers, and shows how their relationship grows. I'd say this book is suitable for upper KS2 and would highly recommend it for a good read, and to build on current issues that children face.
This book really showed the truth about some families... The lovely meeting and courtship was lovely. I loved the contemporary theme but also a modern twist on really a Romeo and Juliet side story. The end was very sad!! It made me cry!? If you are a soppy person and cry when reading soppy, sad books this book is definately for you! But be warned keep a box of tissues close by.. Sukh should have died in the end I think it rather ruined the plot but I love having everyone happy at the end of a

Seemed a little heavy handed to me. Links to Romeo and Juliet were perhaps over played. There was much movement between viewpoints and locations - Leicester and the Punjab - and these were at times awkward. I was surprised by the ending and found the novel did ask interesting questions about family tradition.
I think this book is amazing and entertaining to read. This is book is a modern Indian tale of romeo and juliet. I think the author did a magnificent job of writing about the teenage experience of multiracial urban life. I think teens can relate really well to this book because it talks about the issues of young people's lives: culural difference, revenge etc. I would recommend this book to all teenagers.
Amazing is the only way I can think to describe this book. It came 3rd in NETBA.
Didnt find this book as enjoyable as Balis other books, I thought that the characters were one dimension and not brought out as much as they could have done. However saying that it was a gripping story and sadly the end was a bit predictable as much as I wanted it not to be! It also highlighted what must be a problem to second generation immigrants their parents came here for a better life and make a success and their children are brought up in a western culture, schools and friends but yet at

I thought this was a really interesting book, exploring the lives of teenagers growing up torn between two cultures. I liked the way it was set in different time periods and explored lots of different types of relationships. There is lots of tension, drama and some really shocking moments. definitely a book for more mature readers. This book is a great book!
