Explanation To Books Reflections of Christ
I was first drawn to this book when I saw the picture of the Angels. For those of you who know me well...I have a thing about angels. This picture to me is amazing and makes me think that angels do pose or "fly" around (for lack of a better word)in many different ways. I guess I just thought they just stand upright all the time, just like us people. But I love how this portrait portrays them as excited about the birth of Christ, wanting to be a part of it, and showing up in anyway that they can manage to get there to be a part of it. (Valerie's theory! =))I must admit with the rest of the book I was not too impressed...or at least it felt like I had seen these scenes many times before by many different artists. What really got me was the editorial and preface that the author gave. I am moved at how the author found his way to this project. Not only his desire to do something with his gift, but the promptings to remove things from his life, the people he worked with during the shoots and I am quite impressed by what lengths he went through to achieve the "perfect" scene. I particularly loved how he and others would talk about what was going on in each scene and how everyone felt impressed to do one thing or another. I love the references the book makes to everyone sitting around before or after the shoot and just talking about Christ and their own reflections of him. I feel that if this book totally flopped, well at least those who were involved gained a better testimony of our Savior.
I feel that I too am trying to find the right things to do. Even in my own profession of retail sales. It's hard to find the right path to do what is right regardless of what my employer, employees, and even customers want me to do. I felt that I could relate to the author and I understood what he means about there being many paths, but finding the right one can be tricky.

My parents got Mike and I this book for Christmas. I actually had the opportunity to see these photographs at the Joseph Smith Memorial building in downtown Salt Lake City while I was visiting there in October. I'm speechless at how amazing these photographs are and the overwhelming emotions they bring as I turn each page to discover another moment from Christ's life depicted in these photographs. If you've seen these you know what I'm talking about...if you haven't you need to stop by my houseThe photographs and words together present a simple, practical, realistic, impactful, inspiring impression of Christ and His mission. To better understand the photographer-artist-writer's gift to us, be sure to read the Preface.
BEAUTIFUL!Such an original idea... executed perfectly. The photography is, while not always technically perfection (which he notes himself), inspiring. And his writing is even interesting, go figure!

Beautiful pictures accompanied by short, simple scriptures. A wonderful read.

Incredible photography coupled with scriptures and explanations. The Preface is a must read!
This is a stunningly beautiful book I picked up at Time Out for Women in Texas. This photographer recreated scenes from the Savior's life with real people and photographed them. I would highly recommend this book for anyone with a love for Jesus Christ. It is amazing.
