Rendition As Books Red Hood's Revenge (Princess #3)

Wars may end. But vengeance is forever.

Roudette's story was a simple one. A red cape. A wolf. A hunter. Her mother told her she would be safe, so long as she kept to the path. But sometimes the path leads to dark places. Roudette is the hunter now, an assassin known throughout the world as the Lady of the Red Hood. Her mission will take her to the country of Arathea and an ancient fairy threat. At the heart of the conflict between humans and fairies stands the woman Roudette has been hired to kill, the only human ever to have fought the Lady of the Red Hood and survived-the princess known as Sleeping Beauty.

Evaluation Based On Books Red Hood's Revenge (Princess #3)
I couldn't make it through this book. I'd heard good things, but it was worse than the previous two. I got about halfway through, about page 150ish, and had to get a different book. I have high hopes for his goblin series though.

Abandoned about 1/3 through. Not a bad conceit but too "chick-lit" for me; not enough real grit.

This is a good read. It did not hold my interest as the prior 2 did.

3.25 starsRoudette (aka Red Riding Hood) is an assassin who is coming after Talia (Sleeping Beauty), a princess of Arathea who has been exiled and is living in a neighbouring country with Danielle (Cinderella) and Snow (White). There is a lot of fighting in this series. Yeah, kick-ass princesses are fun, but I have to admit, I tend to skim some of the fighting scenes. I briefly considered giving up on the series, but with only one book left, I think I might as well finish it off. I keep waffling

Oh, man, I loved this one. Its the best book in the series so far, and it follows the best character in the series. Spoilers for books one and two unavoidable in the paragraphs to follow.Talia Malak-el-Dahshat, aka Sleeping Beauty, is by far the most conflicted and complicated character in this series, and its her fairy-tale past we get to dive into this time. Talia carries around the emotional trauma of her past and wears it like armor. Talias time as a fairy-tale princess is a cruel jokeeven

Wonderful...dark and fun....much love for Jim and these perfect books!

Quick thoughts: Incredible. The dark take on Red Hood is inspired, the book is filled with complex characters and a nuanced plot, and we get to fully explore the past of one of our protagonists. My favorite in the series thus far (with one book to go unread) and it holds up wonderfully the second time through.
