Interpretation Supposing Books Once Upon a Toad
A girl gets into a mouthful of trouble in this modern fractured fairy tale, from the author of The Mother-Daughter Book Club. Once upon a time, Cat Starr lived with her astronaut mom in Houston. But when her mother gets sent on a long-term mission, Cat has to move to a far away land—her dad’s house, halfway across the country—and share a room with her real-life evil stepsister, Olivia. Just when Cat can’t take it anymore, Great-Aunt Abyssinia comes to the rescue. And things go from bad to worse. The next morning, Cat opens her mouth and a toad hops out! What’s more, when Olivia speaks, diamonds and flowers appear. How unfair is that? Before you can say "happily ever after," the girls are on the run from jewel thieves and a government agency. Can Cat save the day—and get rid of all those toads? This is an enchanting fractured fairy tale from acclaimed Mother-Daughter Book Club author Heather Vogel Frederick.Rating Based On Books Once Upon a Toad

This was a fun and original take on Charles Perrault's tale. I did enjoy the first half of the book more than the second half, which contained plot holes big enough to drive a truck through, and some loose ends I would have loved to see resolved. All in all though, a cute and fun read.Cat is not happy that she has to move in with her father and his new family because her mother will be up in a space station. She likes her stepmother and half brother, Geoffrey, but her stepsister Olivia is evil. They have to share a room and are constantly bickering. After Cat's rather odd Great Aunt Abyssinia comes to visit, the situation gets worse-- every time Cat speaks, toads come out of her mouth, and jewels and flowers fall from Olivia's lips. The girls don't know what to do, but when

When Cats mother (an astronaut) is sent to the International Space Station, Cat is forced to live with her father, stepmother, and two stepsiblings. Geoffrey is just three and not a problem for Cat, but Olivia (aka Miss Prissy Pants) is the same age as Cat and the two immediately dislike each other. Cat has to go live with her dad and his family while her mom is on the International Space Station. She likes her dad, her stepmom Iz and her little brother Geoffrey, but can't stand her evil stepsister Olivia. They are both in 7th grade and Olivia makes life at school and at home unbearable for Cat. So Cat calls her mom in space for help, but she doesn't get the kind of help she wants. Mom sends great aunt Abyssinia who is a bit on the strange side. After her visit, Cat starts spitting toads
I loved this book too! I like how there is always a big problem in the book that this author writes, and the characters always come up with very interesting ways to solve them! I couldn't put this book down!
Fun and adventurous. I listened to it and really enjoyed it!
