Ilustration Toward Books Body Double (Rizzoli & Isles #4)
Boston medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles literally meets her match–and must face a savage serial killer and shattering personal revelations–in the brilliant new novel of suspense by the New York Times bestselling author of The Surgeon and The Sinner. Dr. Maura Isles makes her living dealing with death. As a pathologist in a major metropolitan city, she has seen more than her share of corpses every day–many of them victims of violent murder. But never before has her blood run cold, and never has the grim expression “dead ringer” rung so terrifyingly true. Because never before has the lifeless body on the medical examiner’s table been her own. Yet there can be no denying the mind-reeling evidence before her shocked eyes and those of her colleagues, including Detective Jane Rizzoli: the woman found shot to death outside Maura’s home is the mirror image of Maura, down to the most intimate physical nuances. Even more chilling is the discovery that they share the same birth date and blood type. For the stunned Maura, an only child, there can be just one explanation. And when a DNA test confirms that Maura’s mysterious doppelgänger is in fact her twin sister, an already bizarre murder investigation becomes a disturbing and dangerous excursion into a past full of dark secrets. Searching for answers, Maura is drawn to a seaside town in Maine where other horrifying surprises await. But perhaps more frightening, an unknown murderer is at large on a cross-country killing spree. To stop the massacre and uncover the twisted truth about her own roots, Maura must probe her first living subject: the mother that she never knew . . . an icy and cunning woman who could be responsible for giving Maura life–and who just may have a plan to take it away.Itemize Books As Body Double (Rizzoli & Isles #4)

Being a fan of the hit TNT television show, Rizzoli & Isles, I felt drawn to the books that inspired the characters. Tess Gerritsen vividly brings Boston homicide detective, Jane Rizzoli, and medical examiner, Dr. Maura Isles, to life in the pages of this book. This is not the first book in the series, but one doesn't need to have read the prior novels to understand what's occurring in the plot. Gerritsen backtracks to prior knowledge when it's needed to discuss pertinent backstory. I choseI just read The Likeness by Tana French and now I'm reading this. In both, the story is about a dead woman who looks exactly like the main character who now has to investigate the murder. Strange. LATER ... the stories are totally different. This was a solid investigative thriller, with some surprises. A quality read.
When a murdered woman turns out to be Dr. Maura Isless twin sister that she never knew about, Maura starts searching for answers about her biological parents. The more she learns, the more she wonders if some things are better left not knowing. This was a thoroughly captivating read with some genuinely chilling moments. Disturbing and a bit twisted, as well. It kept surprising me throughout.

Minus one star because of Maura Isles. That bitch... Look. The book is okay, the suspense is alright, the gory things are fun, Jane Rizzoli has evolved into something tolerable and she's less whiny now compared to the first and second book, but let's not rejoice yet people. Someone just has to destroy my happiness and that is Maura. If there's such thing as a classy slut, then you gotta give it to her. On the third book, The Sinner I was already giving her the evil eye because of her character.
I enjoyed this book much more than the other Tess Gerritsen book I read, Vanished. This one was quick and entertaining. Unfortunately, I don't think this was the next one in sequence like I thought it was. She made references to things that happened in other books that I haven't read yet so that kind of ruined it. I can't read The Surgeon now becuase this book gave away the ending. I found Maura and Jane to be more likable this time around. I didn't know what to think about Ballard until the
Another well-written installment in the Rizzoli and Isles partnership. This one focuses on Isles and a shocking murder that hits too close to home for Maura. But just because Rizzoli is super pregnant, dont write her out of the action. And the secondary thread, which is the real thriller, also becomes a bit personal to Jane. I love these ladies but I gotta admit, I just cant see Jane as a Mom, but maybe thats what I like about this series... it keeps moving forward and the characters keep
Tess Gerritsen has done it again! A thriller that is high on suspense, tension and plot and low on the confronting gore that thwarts so many of the books in this genre. Dr. Maura Isles arrives home from an overseas conference to discover police investigating a murder just outside her home. The victim is her exact double and turns out to be the identical twin sister Maura never knew she had. This of course poses many more questions than answers for an adopted-at-birth person such as Maura. Why
